About Jon and Margeir

Jón and Margeir is a father and son freight trucking business that was founded by Margeir Jónsson and Jón Gunnar Margeirsson. Margeir has owned and operated a truck since 1970 and acquired his first Volvo FB 86 truck around the beginning of the year 1974. Since then he has owned and operated 12 trucks of that kind.

Jón and Margeir business was started with only one diesel truck but has grown significantly since their army of trucks now consists of 14 total diesel trucks that range from the 4 each Volvo FH 16 660, 2 each Volvo FH 16 610 and 3 Volvo FH 12 500. In addition J&M operates two cranes, trhee freight trucks. We also own and operate four fridgerated freigt carriers, two container freight lifters, three dump trailers, two container trailers, for piggy back containers and flatbed trailer.

The diesel freight transportation trucks owned by Jón & Margeir carries frozen fish from Grindavík to Reykjavík and the freight containers are from 150 to 200 per month. They also handle all the shipping needs of Fish Factories of Grindavík, carrying their freight from Grindavík to Djúpavogs and Þingeyrar. This route is around the most triturate in road conditions Iceland has to offer due to the many mountain roads this route carries, the Volvo FH 16 660 really helps when navigating these type of triturate roads.

Jón & Margeir also run the crane operations for Fish Factories in Grindavík, contractors and other companies such as Hlaðbæ Colas who use us to carry road tops such as asphalt; we have been carrying their asphalt since 1992.

Jón & Margeir´s shop was built in 2002 and is fully loaded with every type of equipment needed to operate Jón & Margeis many freight trucks, such as two cranes and one that is currently being modified from Volvo FH 16 540 it is getting a Hiab 477 crane added to it, along with a truck bed , we are also acquiring another crane Volvo FH 16 540 that we plan to add a Hiab 1055, the Hiab will be added in Tyllis Finnland and will be fully operational when it comes to Iceland.

Jón & Margeir employs 15 full time driving employees one of whom is a female driver.
